We got up around 7am on Sunday largely due to jet lag but made the most of it and decided to go to 2 of the 3 morning services - 8:30am and 10:30am. It was well worth it - the power of God was tangible and across the two services probably 30 people were healed. More on that in a bit. The church is very impressive - set on 70 acres of land with it's own prayer house for continual 24/7 prayer in a separate building. The main auditorium probably seats 700 at a push and it was packed out for both services - they also have a third service which runs at 9:30 on a different site. Bill speaks at all 3 travelling between the sites - gruelling!!
We also went to a 5pm prayer meeting and then the evening service (at 6pm) which happens to be a baptism service. 40 people were being baptised (one girl called Kiah!) which is fantastic. Fortunately they didn't do all 40 testimonies - but worship lasted for 2 hours! and the service was over around 9:30pm.
Overall the church is large, buzzing, has a great building, passionate worship and a world class leadership team. Apart from that - a few things stood out to me from our first day here -
- the words of knowledge. I've seen Bill speak on two occasions and I've heard him speak probably 50 times on podcast. But I've never seen him operate in words of knowledge like he is right now. It was quite amazing - he was calling out accurate words in meeting after meeting - probably 10-15 words per meeting. He had one word for a lady who was in danger of having her foot amputated - she stood, got prayer and testified in the evening meeting that she was totally healed.
- the excitement and passion of the people. What was interesting was the response of the people. Bill asked people to stand if they were responding to a word and then asked people who were near to pray for them. This is the bit that got me - people would run over - literally climbing over chairs in their excitement to get there and pray. As they prayed - usually 4/5 people being prayed for at any one time across the room - Bill would ask the person if they were healed or felt pain leave to wave a hand. Many were heald on the spot. It was very natural and created a huge atmosphere of faith. At the end of the third service (10:30am) he got everyone who had been healed to the front and then did 30 second inteviews - it was incredible for a 'normal' church service.
- the prophecies for PJ and I. Both PJ and I had people near us turn around and give us prophetic words during or after the service. It wasn't scripted or planned - they had introduced themselves and we'd chatted earlier in each case and they had later brought us a word. It was inspiring and challenging - how often do I just bless a visitor at KA with a word? Hmm
- the school of ministry. There are students everywhere!! I had no idea their supernatural school was so large - it's actually over 600 students across 3 years. It's a part time course and people are coming from all over the world to take part in it. Inspiring - we're going to try to find out more!!
That's probably enough for now. We're having a great time and haven't got to the conference yet! It starts at 4pm today so we've got the day today to get presents for the kids (important things first!) and recover from jet lag. PJ's spending most of his time open mouthed at the size of the SUV's (cars). TV just doesn't do them justice - they are massive! I also enjoyed showing him his first 'car bra'. Yes in the US cars have bras too! A shaped piece of leather than covers the front of the bonnet to stop stone chips! Amusing....
